first, this file killed 1.4.0rc6 on macOS 10.6.8 as well. when i removed the special character (&) from the filename, i could open it. i think, the problem still remains: scribus is really sensible with file- and path names. i would like to have a message like: "the file can not be oopened. please check file and path names for special characters" instead of a cold crash… |
When I remove "&" from filename, problem remains for me (Ubuntu 10.10). |
there are no other special characteres (è, á, æ, ü…) somewhere in the path to the file (or in your login name)? |
No. I know that some programs have problems with that. When I create new .sla file in the same folder, everything is ok. It seems that's something in .sla file. Similar bug happened to me not long ago. RC1 was possible to open file without problem, RC6 not. |
on debian, renaming the file does not solve the issue... |
ok - on winXP it crashes too! (strange, that on the mac scribus opens the file...) |
Maybe the guideline how the file was created will be useful: Original template of the newspaper was created in RC2. After that, I deleted page 2-8 (there were some images, shapes, texts and PDF bookmarks too), duplicated the first page, added colours and then apllied on some shapes/texts. When the file was created, everything was ok. I exported it to PDF. But when I tried to open source file second time, Scribus crased. |
Problem with file is that it has 4 pages (in internal code notation 0 - 3) but there are 4 FRAMEOBJECTs, which have set page 4 as its own page - page number is out of range. If I removed them file open without problem. I upload fixed file. |

I can confirm that fixed file is ok. What is important now, fix the way how this buggy file is created. Thank you very much! |
