| Platform | Linux | OS | Kubuntu | OS Version | 11.10 | ||||
| Product Version | 1.4.1.svn | ||||||||
| Target Version | Fixed in Version | ||||||||
| Summary | 0010513: Wrong path to plugins directory | ||||||||
| Description | I have Scribus sources in /home/czarek/SVN/ece14/Scribus and this path is set in QtCreator as working directory (for my debug session). Scribus is installed in path /home/czarek/SVN/ece14/install/bin/scribus-1.4.1.svn Generally all is working good, but after some time (sometimes soon, sometimes later) when I try to load some text from file I got a dialog box with choose of text importer, like Scribus stops recognizing text file formats. But list of available importers is empty. After OK I got segfault. | ||||||||
| Steps To Reproduce | QtCreator show me varaibles for gttext.cpp when I set trap in void gtGetText::loadImporterPlugins() : d "../install/lib/scribus-1.4.1.svn/plugins/gettext" absolutePath "/home/install/lib/scribus-1.4.1.svn/plugins/gettext" canonicalPath "" gtdir "../install/lib/scribus-1.4.1.svn/plugins/gettext" As you see absolute path doesn't match, whole path`s part after "/home" to "install" is missing. And that must happen while Scribus is running - at start Scribus works well and I am able to import text files. | ||||||||

This is caused by use of a relative CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH path in cmake command. CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH must always be specified as an absolute path. Another possibility is to simply use a -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=your_relative_path in cmake command. |

But why this issue appears after few successful text imports? My build script for debug session is: cd debugdir cmake ../Scribus -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=../install -DWANT_DEBUG=1 -DWANT_VERSIONING=1 make make install |

Using a relative path in CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH will make plugin directory dependent of current directory. If current directory change, plugin directory change too. That's why an absolute directory must be used when specifying -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH. |

The other possibility is that you are running the built binary but not the installed binary. Make sure your build setup includes an install procedure. You cannot run the built binary from the build directory. |

Two options have been presented here, both lie on your side. Resolving. |
