Summary | 0012821: Hints in hyphen dialog
Description | Hyphen behaviour is not obvious to grasp in scribus. When launching hyphenation, it would be great when the dialog (that pops up asking to check some hyphens) would reminder the user what exactly is being underdone and how scribus intends to do that and why is there a popup. That could be an (one) introduction phrase at the top of the dialog. The dialog is very small in height to there is plenty room for that. Maybe the following sentence would fit as an introduction : "Hyphens will be automatically introduced in the selected text frame. We need your help to to check how to do some hyphens." Furthermore, the hyphen dialog proposes 2 buttons and 2 options that are not obvious to understand. These would benefit a lot of some hint bubble that would help use them. (The following labels are translated from french UI so maybe not the exact replica of their english counterparts. Beside, this is only how i understand these buttons and options : i'm not sure it is right) - "Approve" button : Hint could be "Approve proposed hyphen". - "Jump" button : hint could be "Dont apply proposed hyphen". - "Add to exception list" : "Add edited hypen to local hyphen-dictionnary list" - "Add to excluded list" : "Add edited word to words that should not be hyphenated".

Done, please check and confirm |

i'm not sure that making longer labels in the the buttons is the solution... sometimes it's needed... but most of the time, it's the question that is ill asked... |
I cant / i dont remember how to / pop up that dialog. Extra > Hyphenate apply hyphens to whole frame without asking. (Is that the fix ?) |
Confused how to trigger this dialog as well. |
i guess that you have to choose the "manual" confirmation for the hyphenation in the document settings... |
