Summary0012943: Compression Does Not Work
DescriptionThere are two problems I've noticed the last few months since I started trying out Scribus 1.5 SVN builds. First, compression doesn't work at all. The file size is identical to the uncompressed version, despite the 1.4 release compressing to a tenth the original size. Second, the filename extension for the compressed file is odd. Instead of naming the file like "scribus.sla.gz", it gives it the name "scribus.gz.gz.sla". Anyone else had this problem? I've been able to reproduce it on three different machines.

Steps To ReproduceSimply save the file and choose to compress it on Linux. I'm not sure if this also occurs on other operating systems.

I'm unable to reproduce your two issues here.

@jghali: You didn't state what operating system you are using. I've reproduced it on three different machines running Arch Linux for a few months now, and I recompile from SVN every week.

@christoph_s: Are you using the SVN release or the stable 1.4 builds? This bug only occurs with the SVN release. I've just uploaded an example from a fourth desktop that just compiled a fresh installation of Scribus 1.5.

I tried to reproduce this with your file, and yes, I'm using 1.5.0svn (which is not a release, btw). If you can't reproduce it on a system other than ArchLinux I guess the problem lies there. You could try to build 1.5.0svn using a vanilla version of Qt 5.4 directly from digia.

Arch doesn't modify any of their packages like other Linux distributions so the copy of Qt 5.4 on all of my systems is a vanilla version directly from the original source.

mmstick, is this still an issue on Arch ?

I can confirm this on Ubuntu 15.04 with Scribus 1.5.1svn (Scribus Friends ppa)
