Summary0013125: Use Ctrl+Alt+Space shortcut for "NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE"
DescriptionInsert > Spaces menu shows there is no shortcut for "thin (and non breaking) space"

It shows CTRL+space creates a non breaking space.

CTRL+SHIFT+space is available and could be used to insert a 'NARROW NO-BREAK SPACE' (U+202F))

It would be very handy for correct typography in french langage, where many glyphs require narrow nb space.

May I lend support to this proposal, but in the context of the relationships to earlier proposals that are listed. Managing spaces concerns all languages.

Though I work in French, which has particular requirements, I'm also working on an illustrated book of poetry, where to make it look nice you need to adjust spacing between individual pairs of letters. This can already be done using kerning (only in the Editor), but it would be much better to have the classical typesetting method of inserting spaces of different lengths, preferably in wysiwyg mode. They would have to be unbreakable within words and usually breakable between.

A related issue is the availability of the space glyphs in different fonts; it would be good to be able to view the information directly, perhaps as character strings in the excellent font viewer. Also, since poets and other artists are likely to use fonts that don't have extensive glyph sets like Arial, I'm in favour of the proposal that space glyphs be simulated within Scribus for fonts that lack them.

I second this request. I's a fundamental feature for French typesetting.

A shortcut for narrow no-break space was added last June, not ctrl+shift+space, but ctrl+alt+space. So this is available in 1.5.6 and 1.5.6.1 releases.
