Summary | 0003834: Interface language cannot be changed
Description | After changing the interface language in the settings, and accepting the changes: - The new setting is not applied, even after restarting Scribe - The new setting is not shown when re-opening the settings box, neither before nor after restarting Scribe
Steps To Reproduce | Install Scribe with Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Standards and Formats set to "Norwegian (Bokmal)" (I guess this is the setting which decides the default interface language setting of Scribe) Run Scribe. Open the settings dialog. Set the language to "English". Click "Godta" ("OK"). Optional: Restart Scribe.
Additional Information | Maybe related to 1175.

Scribus has its own settings for Language and picks the locale from the base OS. Eg When i launch Scribus on French XP, it starts in French. I can switch the language in Scribus via the preferences to English or any other language of choice. Go File > Preferences > GUI IIRC, those control panel settings in Windows control currency, date format - not GUI language. FYI, 1.3.3.1 is out too. |
|
l0bo: as stated by plinell, you can switch the Scribus GUI language from within Scribus. And yes, it's related to 0001175, since this is the feature request for this great functionality. BTW: it's SCRIBUS, not Scribe. Please consider joining our very friendly mailing list to ask any questions: http://nashi.altmuehlnet.de/mailman/listinfo/scribus |

Some clarifications, corrections, and additions: - I /did/ go to File > Preferences > GUI to set the language - I used v1.3.3.1, not v1.3.3 - I've now observed the problem on two separate Windows XP SP2 English PCs - Strangely, setting to "English (British)" works, but /not/ just "English". This seems to be at the core of the problem |
