Summary | 0005269: line breaks not recoginzed as word breaks
Description | CTRL + arrow left/right jumps one word forward/backward. Several characters, incl. spaces are recognized as "word breaks". "Special Characters" as eg. line breaks, however, are not recognized. A line break should definitely count as word breaking, though.
Steps To Reproduce | Open SE with text CTRL-left or CTRL-right on a line with line breaks.
Tags | control characters, shortcuts

Within SE: On OSX * CMD Key + left/right arrow acts like the Home/End keys. It will take you to the beginning or the end a sentence. * Alt/Option key act like the CTRL key which skips over 1 word at a time including the whitespace after it and stops at the beginning of the next word. So when I use Option+<right arrow>on a sentence like: Count Dracula had directed me to go to the Golden Krone Hotel, which I found, to my great delight, to be thoroughly old-fashioned, for of course I wanted to see all I could of the ways of the country. When I get to the string country the cursor stops before 'c' Pressing Option+<right arrow>will stop right after 'y' Option+<right arrow>stops right after the '.' This seems like correct behavior. Now on a sentence like: I had for breakfast more paprika, and a sort of porridge of maize flour which they said was "mamaliga", and egg-plant stuffed with forcemeat, a very excellent dish, which they call "impletata". (Mem., get recipe for this also.) When I get to the strings "impletata" the cursor stops before " (1st double quote). Pressing Option+<right arrow>will stop at 'i' Option+<right arrow>again stops right after the 2nd " (2nd double quote). Now pressing Option+<right arrow>will surprisingly skip over the '.' and end up right after it. That seems like it's incorrect behavior. |

Within a Text Box: CMD key acts like the control key. CMD key disregards periods. |
