Unable to reproduce. Are you really using 1.3.3.8 or 1.3.3.9cvs?

Yes, I'm using alex's 1.3.3.8 package for dapper at the moment.

This only seems to happen in the window between editing the frame on canvas and the next redraw, or something like that, and you have to change the linespacing after leaving edit mode, not during.
