| Summary | 0008030: In-line frames do not export to pdf if shifted from one linked frame to another | ||||||
| Description | If an in-line frame is created by selecting "Paste" (with an image or render frame previously Copied to the clipboard) into a text frame, the in-line image shows up fine on the screen and moves around properly when nearby text is inserted or deleted, but when exporting to pdf it only shows up if it is still located on the same page as the original image frame from which it was copied. | ||||||
| Steps To Reproduce |
1. Create a new 2-page document. Create a text frame on page 1 linked to a text frame on page 2. 2. On page 1, create an image frame, select it and choose copy. 3. Click inside the text frame to edit it. Type some text then choose Paste to create an in-line frame. 4. Delete the original image. 5. Observe the inline image shows up correctly on screen. 6. Export to PDF and observe the inline image shows up correctly there too. 7. Insert some more text into the frame before the image, so that the image is moved further down the frame. 8. Observe that the image still shows up correctly in its new location on screen. 9. Export to PDF and observe that the image shows up correctly there too. BUT: 10. Then insert a frame break before the image. 11. Observe that, on screen, the image shows up correctly in its new location inside the linked frame on page 2. 12. However, export to PDF and observe that the image does not show up there at all. 13. Save the document, edit the .sla file and manually change the FRAMEOBJECT's XPOS and YPOS attributes to be somewhere (anywhere) on page 2. (Changing the OwnPage attribute does not seem to be necessary). 14. Then export to PDF and observe that the image now shows up correctly in the right location on page 2. |
||||||
| Additional Information |
Scribus seems to ignore the XPOS and YPOS attributes of a FRAMEOBJECT when calculating its position (which is understandable, since the position is determined by the surrounding text). And therefore, it does not update XPOS/YPOS if alterations to text cause it to be positioned on a different page. However, it does seem to look at XPOS and YPOS when calculating visibility, and if they do not fall within the rectangle of the page on which the FRAMEOBJECT is supposed to be located, the object does not get exported to pdf. If I'm right in this assessment, then it seems that either the XPOS/YPOS need to be updated when its position is recalculated after text flow changes, or else they need to be ignored when calculating visibility during an export to pdf. |
