Sorry, I forgot to mention that you need to change pages by using the pagination buttons on the bottom left.

Just reproduced on Debian testing. The bad thing with no tool selected is: you cannot choose another tool with a shortcut.

Cannot reproduce on OSX 10.8.5 1.5svn r19332
mray, what version is Debian testing running ?
Also can you make a screencast ? (and share through something like dropbox)

Yea..it's not reproducible in stable 1.4.4 just checked.
If you can you get your hands on a current stable or dev version of Scribus you'll see this should be fixed.
BTW, your initial bug reports indicates that you are using 1.5svn yet above you wrote 1.4.3svn.

I switched from Ubuntu to Debian lately, hence the different versions.
So I guess you couldn't reproduce on OSX - maybe some GNU/Linux user can?
At least I could on two different versions on different distributions.

mray, perosredo (above) couldn't reproduce on Fedora 20.
Can you build and out of source build and test the latest SVN ?

mray, I'm going to close this bug because of multiple confirmation that it's not reproducible. And also since you are using an inferior version of Scribus (due to the Debian distro implementation lag). Please feel free to re-open this report once you can test and reproduce on the latest stable or latest dev releases mentioned above. Thanks so far for your vigilance.

... i think i had a similar issue in 1.5svn with no tools being selected: it was after deleting a page...
