Summary 0008432: PDF image crashing Scribus
Description I have a PDF figure in Scribus that I created in Inkscape (Inkscape
--> export to PDF). When ever I try to create a PDF in Scribus of my
document it crashes when the PDF created in Inkscape is part of the
document. When I remove that pdf and have others I've also created in
Inkscape present, I can save the Scribus document as a PDF just fine.

I've attached a zip file with a minimal example of what I'm
experiencing. The file 'test.sla' contains a document with the pdf
I'm having trouble with. The file 'test.pdf' is how far it gets in
the export before Scribus dies. The Inkscape output I'm trying to
put into Scribus is 'image.pdf', and 'crash_report.txt' is the file
report generated by OS X when Scribus crashes.
Steps To Reproduce Open test.sla and export it as a pdf.
Additional Information I'm told that the PDF I've embedded is broken, but I still don't think this should cause the program to crash.

I told you that the PDF is broken ;)

Also, it doesn't crash Scribus on Linux. May I ask how much RAM your computer has?

As I noted above it is broken :), and also as I noted above, I don't think a broken pdf should crash the program. The 'always' up there was referring to my ability to consistently crash Scribus on my mac :).

It has 4gb of RAM.

After several tests against memory allocation failures in ScImage::getAlpha(), i came to the conclusion that the crash is most likely not in our code, but in Qt code. I managed to trigger at least a crash in Qt caused by a memory allocation failure. The crash was reported in qt bugtracker :

Removing target as this issue is not ours.

Closing as the fix is now in Qt 4.6 code :
