Summary0008501: program crashes with "unknown exception" on drawing shape
Descriptioni just selected the shape tool and select to draw a circle, i was pressing crtl or shift (don't remember) to try make it circular. I saw the sape grow bigger and bigger in the silhouette (before drawing the actual thing) and then scribus crashed with "unknown exception" error.
the document has lines and shapes in it, not totally full of them, but there are some, but is not very complex.
so sad i lost a lot of work on this document, but scribus actually produced an emergency file, I renamed it and opened it, and it just gives the same error with no possibility to undo or edit the document.
Steps To Reproducei actually have the sla file (that was previously an emergency file). It crashes everytime you open it.
i've tried to reproduce the error drawing a circular shape on a new file, I succeed every time, I'll try to explain that.
I draw some random circular stuff on the screen by selecting the circular shape and always pressing ctrl while drawing them, after some circles are on screen i put 2 or 3 orizzontal lines also with ctrl pressed. then I start to create circles the same way again. after some circles are on screen, with the ctrl always pressed, it draws just very tiny and long ellipses or very (very) complex random (curved) shapes. maybe the complexity of them just crashes the program.
it's not very accurate explanation, but after a while of trying I manage to have the random shapes on the screen and the crash everytime i try.

I managed to open the file again with scribus, by deleting (via notepad) the last pageobject of the file.
that was a good save for me. does that have any contraindication?

Your file triggers indeed a crash when opening it in 1.3.3.x. Unfortunately the error lies in a third party library we use, so we cannot fix that issue ourself. The 1.3.5.1 development version opens your file successfully however.

It seems that crash is caused by the same problem which prevent opening your file, so we cannot fix the crash itself. Let's try to see if there is a way to prevent getting to it...

Could not fix the crash itself, but i applied a patch which will mitigate it.
