Summary | 0009385: Elements outside bleed zone visible after pdf export
Description | In a 2 page spread of an image, crop and bleed marks are shown on the inside of the pages, rather than just on the top, bottom and outside, even though inside bleed is set to zero. In addition, and more seriously, there is a region of overlap of the image on the inside. If bleeds and crop are not selected on pdf output, the pages are correctly displayed.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Create left and right hand pages with an image that extends full width, with 5mm on outside, top and bottom edges, to allow for bleed. 2) In Document Setup: set top, bottom and outside bleed to (say) 5mm, and inside bleed to zero. 3)Export to pdf and in Pre-Press either use document bleeds or set as above - it makes no difference, and select Crop and Bleed Marks.
Additional Information | This could be a show stopper if a commercial printer must have crop and bleed marks - that's why I've marked the problem as 'major' with priority 'high'!

Franz is this fixable without a major rewrite ? |

I think this is the same problem as in 0008589. I myself have observed this bug and it's pretty annoying. I hope my printer people won't mind... Can we expect to have this resolved in 1.4 final? |
|
This is a problem for my colleagues at offset, and slows down production, requiring editable pdfs so they can manually added printer markings at imposition. Same problem as previous report which has scribus and ID pdfs attached as examples (which I cant find at time of writing) I believe it to be a cross platform limitation (reproducible in linux variations too) |

I've just uploaded a file that demonstrates this bug very well. In the meantime I've tried to remove the overlap with pdfedit. This does only work if you have one image on the right page but not for an image spread over two pages. I also think to have found out that the overlap isn't just a small strip of the image but the *whole* image again! |
|
The page content is now clipped to bleed area. The fact that crop and bleed marks are shown on the inside of the pages, even in the case of a 2 page spread is in no way a bug, as such marks are not useful if not displayed on all 4 side of a page. Moreover, Quark XPress and Adobe do not behave differently in such case. |
|
I disagree, Indesign (at least CS2) and Quark (upto 7) do not show bleed / crop on inside margin of facing page documents. Furthermore, facing page spreads (photos for example) are not split but carried over. Perhaps the spread issue could be resolved using layers? It does appear serious enough to warrant investigation at least. The crop/bleed marking issue is perhaps one of workflow preferences, but they ought to be brought into consideration for professional working environments. Why not offer the option? any chance of reopening this one?? |
