never noticed it... basically: you can type with the keyboard as soon as windings or zapf dingbats is the current font... ... i can't make my mind if this is the best way to do... for sure it does not seem to me a bad behavior... |
The frame properties window shows that Wingdings IS the current font, but, for me, typing does nothing. No characters show up at all. I think the characters that appear should be in whatever font is local. It is a pain to see a typo in a marked up word in a frame and have to mark up the word again. Bit if that's the way its -supposed- to work, fine. But typing should do something. |

on the one side i agree with you... on the other side: there are no windings signs on your keyboard. so, someone could pretend that typing them does not really make sense (it's just a coincidence if some sign can by typed by pressing an "a"...) you can't type on an image frame either... :-) as i tried to write above, i don't know if the behavior is on purpose, but it's not that bad at all! |

I guess this report can be closed as "wontfix" ? |
as written in another ticket: if a char cannot we rendered, we should probably render a box with the char code inside of it... this is the way firefox does it... and looks sensible to me... |
No, for symbolic fonts such as Wingding, we should do as other applications do. For example, with the Symbol font, when typing the 'A' key we should insert the greek alpha and not try to insert the latin 'A'. |
