Summary | 0001114: Full-time access to *edit content* tool
Description | The *edit content of frame* tool is greyed unless a frame is selected with the *Select item* tool. From the user’s perspective, having full-time access to the *edit content* tool would allow much more speed, less back and forth mouse clicks and a smoother experience during layout, editing, etc. This means the *edit content* tool would also allow users to click in any frame and edit its content right away, with the limitation of not letting them freely move the frame itself, this task being reserved to the *select* tool.

Yes. this would in some way also solve the problem of bug 0000761 |
Problem is that the 'Edit Frame Contents' function only works for text frames. That's why it stays grayed out when you have a picture frame selected. Adding some basic image editing functions (*ink color*, brightness, contrast, greyscale, full-color, duotone, in-frame rotation, flip --> see bug report 1140) would solve this problem :). |

Reminder sent to: cbradney Didn't your SE work fix this? |
No, users want to be able to click within a text frame and place the cursor, even if in another mode. |
OK, that makes sense. In that case, personally, I do *not* want to see this feature. It would make it way too easy to accidentally modify content when moving frames around, and probably require some sort of modifier key to be able to drag a frame around. It could work as a mode, Quark-style, though. Users shouldn't have to use it to edit content though (ie double click should still do edit mode for a frame) - as shown by watching anybody try to get used to Quark ;-) . |

"À la Quark" is fine. |
Just noticed this - these two look like dupes. |
