Priority | high | Severity | major | Reproducibility | sometimes |
Status | closed | Resolution | duplicate
Platform | Linux | OS | Gentoo
Product Version | 1.4.3.svn
Summary | 0011711: Adding new style in style manager breaks the style hierarchy
Description | Occurs after opening Scribus and creating a new style (and not selecting a parent style) - all existing styles become children of the new style. This occurs in the stable 1.4.3 Scribus version not SVN (there is no 1.4.3 option in the selection field). I have marked the severity as major and priority as high as this bug makes Scribus
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Open Scribus. 2) Open Style Manager 3) Click New -> Paragraph style 4) Change the style name to a name that begins with the same characters as any other style for example: if there exists a style called "Standard" the new name would be "Standard 1" 5) Click Apply 6) ^%#%#$@$#@$(*!!! - all the styles have become children of the new style in the hierarchy. I will have to switch to InDesign :(
Additional Information | I'm using a manually compiled version of Scribus 1.4.3 - stable, as I thought the Gentoo packages were to blame. Please let me know if there is a more stable version of Scribus than the 1.4.3 stable version.

Forgot to finish the sentence: "I have marked the severity as major and priority as high as this bug makes Scribus" ... almost unusable. Hope my instructions were clear and useful. PS the reproducibility should be changed to always, as I figured out what causes the bug while reporting it. |
|
I seem to have resolved the issue by deleting the .scribus settings directory from the home directory. Everything seems to be working now. |
|
Removing .scribus settings directory fixed the problem for a while, but after a while the problem came back. I'm using a Gentoo 1.4.3 version now, but nothing seems to indicate that it's only a Gentoo problem, of course, it would require confirmation of the problem by other users. |

Thanks for reporting, however this bug is a duplicate of 0009944. |
