Summary | 0011932: Snapping to guides doesn't work at high zoom levels
Description | Moving objects with the selector tool is possible just in discrete steps of 1pt, but not in finer steps. This has the effect that at high zoom levels, moved objects are likely not to snap to guides, namely when 1pt corresponds to at least two times the 'Snap distance' setting or more in screen pixels. There are two obvious workarounds for this issue: 1) Zoom out. However, it seems paradoxical that one has to zoom out to be able to snap to guides precisely. 2) Increase the 'Snap distance' setting. However, this may have unwanted side effects at lower zoom levels. A proper fix would be to allow moving objects with the selector tool in finer steps (0.01 pt), like it is possible when moving guides or when resizing objects for example.
Steps To Reproduce | The following can be reproduced with the default snap distance of 10 px and a full HD screen resolution (possibly also on lower screen resolutions): 1) Create a new document with margin guides at 40pt and set the current unit to pt. 2) Create a rectangular shape with stroke color set to 'None' and place it at (40,5pt / 40,5pt), please see the screenshot. 3) Zoom in to the top left corner of the margin guides at the highest possible zoom level (3200%) 4) You wont be able to snap the rectangular shape to the margin guides by moving it with the mouse.

Peter, did you thicken the object borders at all ? I ask because of 0014020 |

I do not understand... :-( This is really disturbing: "Zoom out. However, it seems paradoxical that one has to zoom out to be able to snap to guides precisely." |
