Product Version | 1.5.1svn
Target Version | 1.5.5 | ||||
Summary | 0013373: No way to distinguish a common space from a non-breaking space for frames with Russian text
Description | It's just there is no way to distinguish a common space from a non-breaking space. They are both brown circles.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. For reproducing I have created 2 text frames. The first one with "1 kg 1 kg 1 kg 1 kg" text in English, the second one with text "1 ?? 1 ?? 1 ?? 1 ??" in Russian. 2. Select English frame, select Extras - Short Words, use Apply: selected frames, Language: Engish (forced). 3. Text in frame is converted into "1_kg 1_kg 1_kg 1_kg" (where _ is non-breaking space). 4. Select Russian frame, select Extras - Short Words, use Apply: selected frames, Language: Russian(forced). 5. Text is not changed, still "1 ?? 1 ?? 1 ?? 1 ??"
Additional Information | The font has 0xA0 symbol, the Short Words option window includes "??". The attached file has 3 screenshorts: frames before using plugin, frames after using plugin, configuration window showing the Russian word. The same issue I have observed in 1.3.3.14 and upgraded into 1.3.9 in hope it is gone.

oops.. looks like this forum does not display Russian chars, replacing them with ??. Consider that ?? in description as russian equivalent for "kg". Screenshots will show all that. |

Pinged Prokoudine to recheck if this bug still persists |
|
Sorry! Yeah, I can confirm this on 1.5.1svn build from June 2015 or so. |
|
No, wait. I tried resizing the text frame, and it appears that the Short Words extension actually does work. It's just there is no way to distinguish a common space from a non-breaking space. They are both brown circles. Someone might want to fix that :) So I guess you could close this bug report and open another one for the circles. |

Hey alex, would you consider uploading a relevant screenshot of the ticket since this isn't a showrtwords issue anymore? thanks! |
