The ö and ü characters are displayed properly on Windows. If they do not appear, that means your display font probably doesn't support those characters.

MacOSX and Windows done.
Linux says: everything fine ;-)

Kunda: If you select German for the user interface can you see the "ü" where in English "insert" is?

jghali, where can i set the display font in Preferences?
+ if you look at the new highlighted screenshot I attached it shows that the Scribus Preferences Interface displays ö correctly.

Laser, Where does it say 'insert' in the German UI ? BTW, using the german UI doesn't correct the issue.

Kunda: I just wanted to know, if your Mac can display Umlaute at all - if it is on utf-8 ;-)
Your screenshot shows it - so it is a Scribus thing.

You can't. Those fonts are directly determined by your system.

jghali, does the screenshot indicate that it's not an OS issue but instead something to do on the Scribus-side of things ?

Please, test with r20677. Might be unrelated to style manager. r20677 fix a text codec selection issue in RTF importer.
