Summary | 0013857: OTF fonts in Korean cause PDF export crash
Description | Pretty much what the summary says. I have only tried this with Korean fonts, but it may also apply to all OTFs in CJK. I tried exporting a test document (attached) to PDF with the Text object that says 'test' after setting to font to NanumGothic.otf. This causes Scribus to crash with a pop-up window that says "Scribus crashes due to Signal 6". I tried the same thing with the TrueType version of the font (NanumGothic.ttc). No crash. I tried with a different OpenType font in Korean (KoreanNMM.otf). Same crash. I tried with an OpenType font font for Latin characters only (Montserrat-Regular.otf). No crash. I also tried this on the Mac version 1.5.1. Same crash with the Korean OTF and no crash with the Latin OTF. So that tells me that it has to do with how 1.5.1 handles non-Latin characters in OTF files. The crash happened with two different Korean OTF fonts created by two different people, so it's unlikely that the crash is due to a single faulty/broken OTF file. With the same setup, 1.5.0 didn't get any of these crashes. So I've gone back to using 1.5.0 for now...
Steps To Reproduce | Decompress the attachment and install the 3 OTF fonts as needed. (pretty sure none of them are commercial) Open test.sla and change the Text object's font to any of the 3 fonts. Try exporting to PDF.
Additional Information | I couldn't include NanumGothic.ttc in the attachment due to size, but I can upload it somewhere else if you need it.

This issue is a duplicate of 0013787. It is related to a 1.5.1 issue with CID-keyed fonts which are often used with asian languages. This issue is already fixed in 1.5.2.svn. |
