Summary | 0014412: Add an option to exclude font directories from being available in Scribus via the Prefs
Description | Note: To my knowledge, this only applies to Linux/BSD, although it may be a problem on other systems too. If a complete TeXlive system has been installed on a system, perhaps even with additional fonts, potentially hundreds of useless (for DTP) PostScript fonts will be listed in Scribus's font dialogues, making the use of these dialogues a chore. It would be great if there was an option to exclude a directory or subdirectory with fonts from being recognised by Scribus. Otherwise, it takes literally hours to uncheck those unwanted fonts in the Prefs.
Additional Information | On my openSUSE 42.1, TeX fonts are located in /usr/share/fonts/ with various subdirectories, all including the string "texlive". It should be possible to exclude all those subdirectories from Scribus's font detection. In the alternative, maybe there can be found a way to exclude TeX fonts by default and across platforms, but also to add option to enable a TeX font if needed.

Makes sense! I could see another Tab in the Preferences > Fonts dialog called 'Excluded Paths' or just rename 'Additional Paths' to 'Font Paths' and then have have a way to distinguish if a patch is one you want or one you want to exclude? Or have 2 separate windows in the tab for paths you want and paths you want to exclude |

i would wish that scribus allows a better way to enable / disable a bunch of fonts. if you install the noto fonts, you'll have exactly the same issue, but cannot solve it by excluding paths. |
