Summary | 0014836: Image links corrupted
Description | Hi, The file I am working on contains lots of images (more details in the "additional information" box below). Yesterday I noticed that all but 2/3 images links got corrupted (i.e. image frame now appears crossed in red). The image links have not been changed. I could restore some of the links thanks to the "image management", but not all of them. I had been working so far for a couple of day on the file very smoothly, without encountering any trouble. Besides, the "vérificateur" (check box) indicates many images as now missing. The .PDF print shows the text but no picture (except on the images where the link could be restored) I would really appreciate if you could help me solve this issue : get the images on the file Many thanks for your help
Additional Information | Current .SLA file size : 244 Ko Number of images on the file : 77 (only approx. 15 appear correctly now) Number of pages w/ text+images : 9 Number of pages forecast for this file : 16 (and 30 more images)

We will need your document to investigate the issue. >> Yesterday I noticed that all but 2/3 images links got corrupted (i.e. image frame now appears crossed in red). Did you move your .sla file? Links are stored relative to the document path, so if you move your file, there is a high probability links will break. If you choose to move your document, you should use File > Collect for output to collect file and images so they can be moved. >> I would really appreciate if you could help me solve this issue : get the images on the file Right-click on image frame, then Get Image. |
|
>> Did you move your .sla file? No I did not move the file >> Right-click on image frame, then Get Image. I am sorry this does not work. Actually I have just tried and a blurred image appears when I tick "revisualization" + When I select it for download, nothing happens. |

>> I am sorry this does not work. Actually I have just tried and a blurred image appears when I tick "revisualization" If an image appears, that means it has worked! Scribus does not show images in full resolution by default for memory usage reasons. You can change that by right-clicking image frame and change preview resolution (Preview Settings > Low Resolution / Normal Resolution / Full Resolution). However it is not advised to do so. >> When I select it for download, nothing happens. Download what, from where? Scribus does not support using internet URLs for image links. |
|
>> Yesterday I noticed that all but 2/3 images links got corrupted (i.e. image frame now appears crossed in red). Thinking about another possibility: your computer is running out of memory. A symptom of this is white image frames and image failing to load. When working with doc with lot of images, it is advised to split doc in several files. As mentioned in my previous note, you should avoid using full resolution previews when working with doc containing lots of images. Doing so increase memory usage. |

Dear jghali, Thank you for your help, as the hereunder advice does enable the images to show up again. Which solves my current problem. >> You can change that by right-clicking image frame and change preview resolution (Preview Settings > Low Resolution / Normal Resolution / Full Resolution). However it is not advised to do so. 2 questions : 1/ is it possible to change the resolution for all the images at once ? (I had to change their resolution one by one) 2/ why is it not advised to do so ? (">>However it is not advised to do so.") |

1/ is it possible to change the resolution for all the images at once ? (I had to change their resolution one by one) For future document: File > Preferences > Tools > Image tab > On Screen Preview For current document: File > Document Settings > Tools > Image tab > On Screen Preview 2/ why is it not advised to do so ? Using a full resolution preview considerably increase memory usage. This reduce the number of images Scribus can load and increase the risk of crashes. |
