Summary | 0015430: More versatile layer features
Description | Having worked a lot with Scribus layers recently, I think some of the layer features from image editing programmes as well as an export-related feature would be useful expansions of the programme's capability, namely: 1) Group layers -- useful if you are working with a common background, like e.g. a map and different content groups like images. 2) Merge layers -- helpful to reduce the number of layers once all the editing has been done. It could be implemented like in an image editor, i.e., "Merge with lower layer" or "Merge all visible layers". 3) An option to exclude layers from PDF export even if the option to export layers has been selected in the PDF dialogue. Currently, a layer is only excluded from export if the latter option has been disabled and the layer has been set to non-printable. If a layer has been set to non-printable but the option to export layers has been activated (PDF 1.5 and X-4 only), it will be exported as a non-printable layer. There should be an additional column in the Layers dialogue to exclude a layer or a group of layers from PDF export.
