Summary | 0016626: Zero Width Spaces are not visible |
---|
Description | Zero width spaces (U+200B ZERO WIDTH SPACE) work well in Scribus, however they are not visible, even if the visibility of non-printing characters is being turned on. This makes working with them extremely difficult. Several languages that do not space words, like the Khmer language for example, use zero width spaces in digital text processing to indicate the seperation between words and are obviously very important for formatting. |
---|
Steps To Reproduce | Write / copy&paste text in Khmer language, use U+200B ZERO WIDTH SPACE. It works properly (for example: line-breaks occur on word boundries), but the character is not seen. Turn on View-Text Frames-Show Control Characters (which shows all other non-printing characters just fine), however the zero width space is still not visible. |
---|
Additional Information | Screenshots show the same text in Open Office (with zero width spaces visible) and in Scribus (zero width spaces not visible) |
