Summary | 0017545: Userfriendlier image import
Description | It's possible do drag'n'drop images from Nautilus file browser onto a Scribus page : images are "imported" into the document. That's very handy. 2 Issues : when importing several images, they - appear exactly on the same place : in the end only the top one can be seen and selected. All images have to be manualy spread first before being seen and reachable - image zoom is set to 100%. High res images with a 100% zoom cant be recognized. One first has to "Adapt image to frame" so as to "see" the image Proposition is : when importing several images, - place them each slightly translated, so the user can immediately see the set of images. An existing setting could probably be used to specify the translation dx and dy, because other tools do that allready. - set the zoom to "Automatically adapt image to frame size" so the whole image can be seen and recognized

- in 1.7 the frames are created slightly translated, as you request - if you want them to automatically fit, you can check the box in the preferences > item tools > image frame... i'm not sure that having the images to auto fit by is a general good default, so i would prefer to let the users that want it set it for themselves. if i recall correctly, we also already have proposal on how to solve the issue, when the image is white in the left top corner and nothing is shown when importing the image. would you mind looking for that ticket and comment in there? |

For the autofit : great, that option enables to see something meaningfull by default. That makes it much more userfriendly allready. As for the translation, it looks like it uses the "Operator tools > Duplicate Object > Various > Translation" preference. On my side that config is 0 so as to get easier precise relative positionning when using CTRL+D But CTRL+D creates ONE duplicate only. It's when importing a bunch of images (or multiple-duplicating), that i'd prefer a translation. Which leads to : - handy default setting depends on whether operation creates only one new frame or more. - existing setting not only matters for duplicating but also for image drag'n'drop import. Setting label or explanation should mention both uses - idealy there should be 2 settings : 1) translation when duplicating once or importing one image + 2) translation when creating more than one frame... but I can live without it :-) |
