Summary0017549: Why I need to create a new master page in order just to remove an existing master from a page
DescriptionLet's say there is a 'master01' on all pages
It has pagination at the bottom
Now I want to remove pagination from the first page in document
There is no way
I need to create a new master, without pagination, and apply it on the first page
So stupid, isn't it ?
It should be just - right click on page - remove master

currently, a scribus page always has a master page.

if you don't define one, the automatically created "Normal" one will be used.

i would say that having no master page assigned by default and creating one as soon as the user wants to edit it, is also a valid approach.

it has an (small in my eyes) advantage in the workflow you're presenting.

the question is: is it worth to change from the current model, where there is always a master page, you can fill it if you want, or create alternative ones and apply them?

what is clear to me: the current way is not stupid, is just very systematic. which comes with some advantages and some disadvantages.

(think of this: you decided that a few pages don't need a page number and remove the master page from them. later, you decide that all the pages need the title of the document in the header and, while this is an easy task for the pages that still have a master page, you need to go through each of the pages without master page and apply a new one. not really an efficient process.)

i don't think that scribus will ever be modified to allow pages without a master page (and, therefore, i'm suggesting to close this ticket), but i will for sure try to keep your report in mind if we ever think of completely modify the way the master pages work in scribus.

Won't fix, we require master pages to exist.
