| Summary | 0017928: ld: framework 'AGL' not found | ||||
| Description | macOS 15.7.7 Sequoia (Intel) Get this by compile time: ``` ld: framework 'AGL' not found c++: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation) ``` The ld: framework 'AGL' not found error occurs because Apple completely removed the legacy Apple Graphics Library (AGL) framework from modern macOS SDKs. AGL was tied to the obsolete Carbon API, and building older software or using legacy toolchains (such as Qt5) that still try to link -framework AGL will fail. | ||||

It builds fine here on any Mac OS, including 15.7.9. What's your cmake line and how are you installing dependencies? https://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Building_SVN_versions_with_CMake#Building_Scribus_on_macOS is our reference |

I re-compiled it with Qt 6.11.1 (with ) and it works now. My build script is: (The only thin user has to do is install some developer libs via BREW and check out the source code. Then put this my script into main folder, run it.) ``` ## absolut path required by cmake? BASE_PATH="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Applications-src/scribus.net/src-2026-08aug-16/1-7-x/" BASE_PATH_build_install="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Applications-src/scribus.net/src-2026-08aug-16/1-7-x/scribus-1.7.x/build-install/" BASE_PATH_build_install_app="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Applications-src/scribus.net/src-2026-08aug-16/1-7-x/scribus-1.7.x/build-install/Scribus.app/Contents/" #svn update export INTERFACE_INCLUDE_DIRECTORIES="/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/SDKs" export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/opt/icu4c@77/lib" export CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/opt/icu4c@77/include" export PKG_CONFIG_PATH="/usr/local/opt/icu4c@77/lib/pkgconfig" export Qt6_DIR="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Apps/qt.io/2025-06jun-06--6.9.1/6.11.1/macos/lib/cmake/Qt6/" export QT_DIR="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Apps/qt.io/2025-06jun-06--6.9.1/6.11.1/macos/lib/cmake/Qt6/" #export Qt6_DIR="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Apps/qt.io/2025-06jun-06--6.9.1/6.8.3/macos/lib/cmake/Qt6/" #export QT_DIR="/Volumes/DATA-2022/Apps/qt.io/2025-06jun-06--6.9.1/6.8.3/macos/lib/cmake/Qt6/" mkdir ./build-install mkdir ./build cd ./build cmake -DWANT_DEBUG=1 -DWANT_VERSIONING=1 -DCMAKE_OSX_SYSROOT=macosx -DCMAKE_OSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=15.0 -DBUILD_OSX_BUNDLE=1 -DWANT_CAIRO=1 -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX:PATH=${BASE_PATH_build_install_app} ../ make -j2 make install cd .. echo "${BASE_PATH_build_install} - your app is ready" echo "- all done." ``` |

Seems complicated, but ok. The AGL issues has not been noticed on other versions of Qt so it must be related to whatever you are using on your system. I am resolving this, leaving the other versions to you to review if you wish. |
