Summary | 0003653: Impossible to copy links from the help browser
Description | It's impossible to copy links in the help browser to the clipboard, at least under SuSE and from what I've been told Kubuntu. Don't know if this a Qt issue, but in case it isn't, it would be fine to enable Scribus to do that. Otherwise, hyperlinks in help documents are completely useless. This is also true for 1.3x of course.

select, copy, paste or mouse select and middle button paste works here. |
That's fine, but many average users will expect right click > copy when clicking on a link. Currently, "Copy" is grayed out. |
Moreover, something like <a href="hp://www.blah">blah/a> cannot be copied that way, and there are quite a few in the docs. They are useless unless the original doc is opened in a real browser. |
Deliberately wrong tags, otherwise, Mantis turns it into a link. |
Find a nice way to find the default browser on Linux, and we can use it. Select any text, including a link, to enable copy. |
Is there some way an open source browser could be added to scribus to handle the help? |
>>> Is there some way an open source browser could be added to scribus to handle the help? That's not necessary. Users should be able to configure their default browser (as they van do with their image editor and gs) _and _ to copy the link to the clipboard. |
>Find a nice way to find the default browser on Linux, and we can use it. E.g. this one: - the user clicks on an external link in help browser -- A pop up appears: "Please choose a browser" + a check box "Remember this choice" --- Additional setting in Prefs to correct this choice, as suggested by Christoph |
Lets see about this idea then... |
Click and if you havent set it in prefs, select the web browser. It will then open them there. |
Craig, it doesn't work with today's 134cvs, neiter can I find a new setting in Prefs. Have you commited those changes to CVS? |
They are in CVS, 100% sure. |

Added Screen shot. It works exactly as Maciej asked: When it is not configured, clicking an external link triggers a dialog to find your browser. |
Sorry for the noice, "make install" went wrong, I didn't notice it and used the old binary instead. Thanks for this feature, Craig, i will give it a go as soon as I figure out what happens. /usr/bin/install -c -p -m 644 ./16/draw-arrow-back.png /opt/scribus134/share/scribus/icons/16/draw-arrow-back.png /usr/bin/install: nie można wykonać stat na `./16/draw-arrow-back.png': Nie ma takiego pliku ani katalogu make[3]: *** [install-data-local] Błąd 1 make[3]: Opuszczenie katalogu `/home/maciej/dane/scribus/cvs134/Scribus/scribus/icons' make[2]: *** [install-am] Błąd 2 make[2]: Opuszczenie katalogu `/home/maciej/dane/scribus/cvs134/Scribus/scribus/icons' make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Błąd 1 make[1]: Opuszczenie katalogu `/home/maciej/dane/scribus/cvs134/Scribus/scribus' make: *** [install-recursive] Błąd 1 |
