Can you explain? |
Say you have (letter are objects): A B C D E and you want to have A under C (or a duplicate of it), what you would do is select A, cut or copy it, then select C and activate paste under and what you'd have then is this: B C A D E I wish it was clear, ask if you're not sure. :) |
Ah, now I know what you mean, but it doesn't sound intuitive to me. Being able to move/copy/paste/cut items in the document outline seems the way to go here. Or did you think about the doc outline in your request? |
Nah I don't really use the outline, I think it's difficult to work with it and doesn't work very well. I used that constantly in Illustrator, I think it's pretty useful actually. |

>>> Nah I don't really use the outline, I think it's difficult to work with it and doesn't work very well. Currently it doesn't. I was thinking of a future, improved version ;) >>>I used that constantly in Illustrator, I think it's pretty useful actually. It is useful in a vector drawing app, sure, but I'm not sure whether a page layout program would benefit from such a feature. It may be overkill, but that's just my humble opinion. |
I'm pretty sure it can be, and it's probably not hard to implement either. |
tree.cpp aka the outline tool will get a rewrite in 1.3.x |

tweaked bug title for more clarity |

it's probably easy to implement, but -- please -- don't do it. we should rather have an easy way to move an item below/above another, not add a specific way of integrating this into copy pasting. the workflow would be: - paste on top (as already is) - select reference item - move above /below it. if somebody really needs such a functionality, she should create / download a script doing it. that's imo the good way of getting such very specific use cases into scribus. |
