Summary0004079: Problem with colours displayed in properties and elsewhere
DescriptionClicking on colors displays a list of colour names with a thumbnail of the colour next to it. in this build the thumbnail does not match the colour name. for example Chocolate is displayed as a sky blue.

The same bug occurs when selecting a colour in the story editor and also in edit style, probably elsewhere as well. Scribus.rc appears correct.
Steps To ReproduceClick on colors in properties, or select a colour in the story editor, or select a colour in the style editor

This happen when color management is enabled with a rgb printer profile selected. Those are not supported for now, only cmyk printer profiles are.

On further investigation I have found that the problem is more comlicated. The fault as discribed does not happen all the time, but only with certain files. I have no idea why and so far have not been able to successfully reproduce in a consitant manner. I have thus uploaded a scribus file (odd colours file.sla) which shows the fault on my system. As an addition this file also fails to produce correctly coloured PDF's The green 'boredom' actually renders as red - the same colour that is incorrectly shown in the colours palette.

Oddly the file showing the fault does not have colour management selected (thgough it may have in the past - I can't remember sorry) How can I find out if the printer profile is RGB or CMYK? It is the BJ Colour printer profile 2000?

I have also uploaded a file which does not show this fault, but has colour managment selected.

Your documents show exactly what i described:
- odd_colors_file.sla has color management enabled and the selected printer profile (BJ Colour printer profile 2000) is a rgb printer profile
- correct_colours_with_print_man.sla has color management disabled

On Windows, there is a good enough way to know if your printer gonna be able to use rgb or cmyk printer profile : if your using a postscript enabled printer with a postscript driver, the printer driver will accept cmyk profiles, all other cases or almost : rgb profiles. A free tool exist also for inspecting icc profile content : http://www.color.org/profileinspector.html

One advice : avoid to use ANSI/CGATS profile, prefer the FOGRA one. For several reasons, we won't distribute the ANSI/CGATS profile anymore from 1.3.4 release

Many thanks for such quick replies. I know I am being thick now, but could you tell me where in the files colour managment is enabled? I can then go in and manually edit it off. At present I do not have colour management enabled in the gui preferences so I am assuming that it is being picked up somewhere in the .sla file.

For application preferences : File -> Application Preferences
For document preferences : File -> Document Preferences
Application preferences allows to modify prefences for new documents.
Document preferences allows to modify modify preferences for current active document, you can enable/disable color management for a particular document there.

In fact this issue is already solved in 134cvs. That does not mean however that rgb printer profile support is complete. This is one of the first patch i committed to 134cvs. Scribus 1.3.3.x does not support rgb printer profiles and probably never will. In consequence, i have disabled those profile detection in 1333cvs (issue 0004088).
