Summary | 0004267: (Slightly) confusing ui of the new style manager
Description | The new style manager (yippeeh!) is a bit confusing when it comes to creating a new style. Currently, one can select a style in the left field -- without any consequences, and if "New" is clicked, we have to choose the desired kind of style. Wouldn't it be easier and more intuitive to select the kind of style in the left field and let a click on "New" create the selected style directly, without another drop down list?

No. Style manager when all things will be implemented will show all styles applied on the selected object. This means there can be a line style, paragraph style and a character style set for the object in which case it's impossible to know what style a user thought when he clicked the new button. Similary when clicking a style name in the list it should apply the clicked style to the selection. |
