Summary | 0004333: Re-introduce preview for guides in the new dialog
Description | The new "Manage Guides" dialog in 1.3.4cvs has a cleaner layout than the one in 1.3.3.x, but the preview there is extremely useful. What about a preview field that is visible no matter which tab is active?

Personally, I prefer it that way. You can see the guides being shown directly on you page. I don't see the use of a preview, it would take a lot of space and doesn't really add infos. You just need to zoom your page if you want to see it entirely... Do you have examples where this preview would be "extremely useful" ? |
|
the preview was developed as a workaround for "online" guides. And it was accepted only as this workaround by the others developers (and maybe users). I can see there can be one more tab with the preview but there are (imho) no more sane usage for it. Of course I can change my oppinion if there will be any arguments for it ;) |

>>>Do you have examples where this preview would be "extremely useful" ? With the preview, one can always see all guides on a page, independent of the enlargement of the document view. When it comes to fine tuning a page, zoom is often very high, and it would be necessary to zoom out before changes will be made. The preview will save the steps of zooming out and back in. |

Thinking about this, another, perhaps better solution comes to my mind: a (dockable) mini preview of the doc with the ability to switch visible elements on or off, e.g. guides, text frames, image frames, margins etc. Thoughts anybody? |
|
Yes, it would be better if the page palette could handle that. |
|
Also, its not really worth doing and then redoing until we move to Qt4.2 in 1.3.5. |
