Summary0004946: Kerning bug
DescriptionIf kerning is applied to a text in a frame, not the whole text is affected by changes. See screenshot. In this example I applied negative kerning to sample text in auto text frames. Then I reset the kerning to zero. As a result, not all text was reset.

Did you change the kerning in editmode or in select mode?

Kerning was applied in edit mode, and there's definitely something wrong with kerning. I attach another screenshot of what happened by minimising kerning in the 23 December build.

Hm, yes, if you use tracking values < -30% you risk negative char widths, which apparently Scribus doesn't handle very well.

I can reproduce this issue only with kerning < 30% and on canvas, not in PS or PDF. Apparently the canvas draw routine accumulates an error which moves the following chars to the right.

Scribus shouldn't allow kerning < 30 % then, don't you think?

No.
First, 30% isn't a fixed limit. Second, It works in PS/PDF, just the display is messed up.

I know this an old bug, but if anyone has an example of this bug so I can test it, please attach it.
