Description | I have a simple document with one picture. If I select from the menue: Extras -> Bilder verwalten (Tools -> manage pictures) and then the "Suche" (search) button, scribus hangs (doesn't react to anything anymore) and I have to kill it.
Additional Information | scribus version 1.2 cvs (24.04.2004), gentoo linux, kde 3.2, qt 3.3.0

The screenshot picture_bug.png shows the situation just before the crash. |
tested this file on Suse 9.0 and FC-1 with latest CVS - no crash. This function has always been reliable for me. |

Are you sure it doesnt come back after awhile? Mine takes a little whle and then returns ok to the GUI. Try just letting it run for awhile. What spec is your PC? |
Note: This tool runs find and sometimes can take many seconds depending on how many files are in $home. Is $home mounted on nfs ? |
Well, you are right, it returns after one minute (I have an Athlon PC with 2,8 Ghz) in case I haven nothing mounted beyond the home dir. (Homedir size: 5 G) But what does this button shall do anyhow? If there is only one picture, and it has the status OK, why should it search a file? To find dublicates? And if its supposed to take a long time, than there should be a kind of progress bar or at least a message box: "Searching..., please wait!" with the possibility to cancel the find process. edited on: 04-25-04 17:39 edited on: 04-25-04 17:39 |

>If there is only one picture, and it has the status OK, why should it search a >file? To find dublicates? Correct. >And if its supposed to take a long time, than there should be a kind of >progress bar or at least a message box: "Searching..., please wait!" with the > possibility to cancel the find process. Good idea. |
Changing to feature request. Not a crash bug. |
If you say, its a feature request, I have another suggestion: It would be helpful, to have the possiblity to change the base path of the search (pictures are not always placed in the home directory). |
