Summary | 0005461: Request for feature: "send to level"
Description | Hi When dealing with items on many different levels (not layers), I sometimes have to take a note of the exact level number of another item in order to know exactly where the item should go. Using layers to reduce the number of levels per layer would affect final layout and is not suitable most of the time. From the properties panel, I then have to go up/down but I was wondering if there could be a similar possibility as with layers, basically the possibility to "send" an item (image frame, text frame, whatever) to a specific level by choosing it. In the case of levels it would obviously be a number, scroll down, up, or typed. I was wondering if this feature, which does not seem like a major difficulty but a great improvement in use is considered for future versions? Cedric

personally, i think that sending to the top / bottom and then moving down / up is often the much easier solution. if you have lot of stacked frames, i guess that using layers will help. i don't think that sending to a specific level is a good idea. adding a levels secion to the align and distribute palette, with for sending on top or below the first / last item in the selection might work, but i really wonder how often people will prefer that to just HOME up up up up up. |

we can already move the objects around the levels in the 'outline' window. (not by level numbers, but if i would like to work with it, i would give the essential items a custom name – much better than moving by level numbers that change while moving the items…) |
