Summary | 0006151: printer is unaware of page format
Description | The printer is not informed about the page layout; so every time you start the program, you have to switch to the printer options dialog and switch the printer from portray to landscape mode (I'm using the flyer template installed by the setup).

Usually printers figure out how to use their paper formats, not the client. Scribus sends print jobs which contain the exact page dimensions, the printer should rotate the pages automatically. Communication between print client and printer is a science of its own. With some printers it might still be necessary to set the options right in the print client, YMMV. |

Can we close this one? |

I think, this is a very annoying problem. I think I printed every landscaped layout minimum once in portrait for the trash can. I do not know many details about the printing API, but on Windows, most applications can "tell" the printer the orientation of the layout. |
|
>> on Windows, most applications can "tell" the printer the orientation of the layout In my experience almost none does : Word does not, Excel does not, Indesign does not, QuarkXPress does not... Amongst exceptions are Acrobat Pro and Reader. |

>> In my experience almost none does : Word does not, Excel does not, Indesign does not, QuarkXPress does not... Amongst exceptions are Acrobat Pro and Reader. You are right. I am really astonished. But Word will warn you at least when the bounding printing area is out of range of printer. |
