Summary | 0006242: erratic selection operation and display in multiple linked frames
Description | it is possible to select all of a linked frame text with "Edit / select All" or CTRL-A. After selecting all, deleting bugs : - all is not deleted, but only the first frame (or maybe the frame that was active when requesting the SelectAll), and the remaining aftertext flows to that frame. - some text remains displayed in the last frame that should have been emptied by the flowing operation, but this is just a display, not true content (if I scroll down and back, it isnt there anymore)

After selecting all the linked content, it seems that the coming operations operate only on the frame that has been rightclicked on. For ex, when deleting, the text doesnt diseappear, but 1) flows in the rightclicked frame 2) isn't changed at all in the other linked frames It seems to be the same for any operation, like changing the character style. |
addendum to the previous note : after deleteing the allselected text 1) the text flows in the rightclicked frame AS IF its own content was deleted; but since there is more text in the following frames, their content flows to the "deleted one". 2) the other frames display remain unchanged, however their content has been flowed to the deleted frame. Going down down and up up a couple of pages forces the update of the display and shows that this partial delete and flow is really what happens. When changing character, the change affects only the clicked frame, exactly as is displayed, but not as is intended. |

i tried to replicate the delete part of this bug report with 1.5svn: * create two small text frames * link them * fill them with enough lore ipsum to have the text flowing from the first to the second * activate text editing in the first frame* ctrl+a to select all to select the whole text * only the text in the first frames gets highlighted * press the delete key * only the text in the first frame gets cleared * deselect the active frame * the other linked frame gets cleared, too * a look with the the story editor confirms that the whole text is indeed deleted. it's somehow how i would expect scribus to behave, except for the two refresh problems |

i tried to replicate the formatting part of this bug report with 1.5svn: * create two small text frames * link them * fill them with enough lore ipsum to have the text flowing from the first to the second * activate text editing in the first frame* ctrl+a to select all to select the whole text * only the text in the first frames gets highlighted * apply the bold variant of the font * both frames are set to bold and correctly refreshed again: functionality ok for me, the only problem is (as in the my previous note), that only the first frame gets highlighted. |
I dunno where to dl 1.5 but i found 1.3.6 svn C*T*C-1-8-6windows and tried.4 Yes, the behaviour has changed and improved ! Selecting all -> not all the text appears selected, but an action impacts the whole of the text. So yes, functionality is now ok, the only problem is that only the first frame gets highlighted. |
as amateur ;-) of fact, it is not the first frame that gets highlighted, but the at-the-moment selected frame. |
So the problem here is the more generaly problem of refreshing linked frames following one where included text 's size changes. |
