We cannot do vertical only units.. and.. would this be useful, really? IE, whats wrong with using inches here? |

In the ad world, agate lines are still used a lot. Prices are established per agate lines. So ads must fit within this unit. A value of 1/14th of an inch translates in 0.0714285 in decimals... not very user friendly. So agate lines as vertical unit can be of help. Of course, one could always get away with any other units. I personnaly know nobody who uses cicero for instance. But this doesn't prove cicero to be not useful. I don't think it would make sense to have a horizontal unit set to agate. AFAIK they are used only to set the height. The other "unit" in that case being the number of columns, a value generally expressed in picas or inches, in North America. So unless we make separate fields for horizontal and vertical units, my suggestion may well remain a suggestion! Still, in the professionnal world, it would be a plus. Quark has them for quite a few versions now. But not ID. Both have separate vertical and horizontal units. In short: picas, inches, inches decimal, centimeter, millimeter, ciceros are common to both ID and QXP. Agate is a Quark "exclusivity" and "Other" is an ID "exclusivity". I marked this as a tweak. Having it is a plus. Not having it is not as important in my view as not having picas expressed in base-12 instead of decimals. |

Picas are already in base 12 in SVN |
