Summary | 0007159: Scribus exports uncompressed PNGs by default |
---|
Description | Scribus wastefully generates uncompressed PNGs by default when a page is exported. There is at least one user who feels very strongly about it, so this issue at least merits a discussion. |
---|
Additional Information | Avox committed to changing the export dialog to reflect PNG compression levels instead of the completely inappropriate "Quality" setting that has little bearing on the PNG export process. That is great. However, the decision to generate an uncompressed PNG could also be reviewed in favor of another compression level if it does not have an impact on the quality of the output which it doesn't appear to be. Alternatively, an option could be added to preferences to allow a user to set a default compression level. Having this option would satisfy both proponents of uncompressed PNG export and those of the maximum lossless compression that PNG allows. |
