Summary | 0008005: [OBSOLETE] Page > Import of several SLA files to an existing SLA messes things up
Description | I am not sure this is actually a bug and am reporting it only because Christoph_S thinks it is. He asked me to report it. I had several SLA files. I used the Page >> Import function to append the second file to the end of the first file. Using the same function, I appended another file to the newly created file. I repeated the process until I had about four files combined into one file. When I reviewed the combined file, features that had been in the original files were messed up when displayed in the combined file. My hunch is that the problem is <strike>related to the fact that there were several layers that were not common to all of the files.</strike> (later testing shows the bug doesn't seem to be related to layers by OP, see updated comment below) Problem 1) Text frames that were in the Master Pages of some of the original files were mostly omitted in the combined file. Problem 2) Many of the text frames that were not in the Master Pages did not display properly in the combined file. I could see the outline of the frame but no content within the frame was displayed. I had to manually click on each frame to display the content. Problem 3) This is related to Problem 2. When I clicked on the frame to get it do display the content, I had to find the layer it was in because it was not in the same layer as in the original file. It was pure guesswork trying to find the layer that it had been moved to.
Additional Information | The files I used are currently proprietary and cannot be submitted for your review at this point in time. However, I may bring this particular project to a halt soon. If so, I will be happy to submit the files at that time. Update (2009-05-05 05:29): I have now reproduced this issue several times. My above notes indicate that the problem might be rooted in the fact that there are several layers that are not in all files. However, after modifying all of the files so the layers and their order are consistent from file to file, I still can't import files without having a LOT of stuff messed up. This is so severe that the software is rendered useless when working with a lot of small files that are intended to be combined into one large final product.

updated report to not autolink irrelevant mantisbt issue numbers + added OPs updated comment in to summary |

Mike, can you by chance provide the SLAs you used to reproduce this issue? |
|
i'm marking this ticket as obsolete, since it does not list any exact bug nor provide anyway to reproduce anything. we need specific tickets for each of the suggested issues... |
