Summary0008633: color replaced : strange things...
DescriptionI need help for this because it looks like a bug but i'm not absolutly sure it is.
- Create a 2 color sla only using black and magenta with text, image and photo.
- Print preview shows there are only 2 colors in separation cmyk : K and m.
- Replace colors by named ones : black -> P504 and magenta -> P137
Then print preview shows (with direct tone conversion to cmyk uncheck and no color profile) that there are now 6 plates, but that there is still color on k and m; as on c and y too.
Even deletion of unused colors doesn't solve this. I was suspecting profiles but as they are not changed from the first trial with m & k until the last with named colors and removal of unused colors, it shouldn't interfer.

Cannot reproduce. For images there is an already existing issue with images colorized with spot colors and exported as CMYK (0003743)

collect for output folder added. Btw, i don't want to export as cmyk, i just want spot colors "plate" output. I'll take a look at issue you mention. Thanks.

Well, seems related : i used effect bichromia (? don't know english name) on some image too. But why is it then ok for the starting step with M and K only ?
Separation is correct at that moment. It's after color replacement that the problem occurs

>> But why is it then ok for the starting step with M and K only?

Because colorize effect and related currently work in cmyk mode when using cmyk or spot colors and do not care if a color is spot or not.

Confirming this issue is a duplicate of 0003743. Some images have also grayscale effect applied and there are consequently no colors to replace here.

Thanks for explanation.
Isn't there some kind of trick to solve this ? Gray is a fraction of the black full density. Isn't it possible just to "switch" color for the output ?
My final job should be using brown and orange on two "plates". So i create it using two separate colors M and K. But i can't figure what results in real using these two fake color on screen instead of the real ones. Just replacing the displayed color could solve this. Technicaly, my solution satisfied the printman; but it's quite difficult for me to guess what i will get during creating the job... I didn't try until now, but i suppose the problem would be the same for trichromia. Is there a plan to solve/avoid this ? Thanks.

>> Isn't it possible just to "switch" color for the output ?

Given the nature of the problem, no, you would see same result as current print preview

>> Is there a plan to solve/avoid this ?

Yes, that's part of the rework of color management which will be done during 1.5.x series.
