Summary | 0008857: Make an option to have "Adjust Frame to Image" locked
Description | I feel that it would come handy to have an option to have the "Adjust Frame to Image" function locked. This option would probably best be placed under Properties->Image->Scale to Frame Size->Lock frame to image. This way the the option is only available when the image scales to the frame; otherwise it doesn't make much sense. If the image scaling is NOT set to "Proportionate", then the frame would simply follow the image as it is being deformed/scaled up and down. If the image scaling IS set to "Proportionate" then the image would proportionally scaled AND the frame would always stick to the edges of the image. Same way as, for example, proportionally scaling a layer in Gimp - the "selection" outline box follows the layer boundary. Personally, I often place product images with the image frame functioning as a border around those images. While resizing the frame to fit nicely into its spot I often find myself using "Adjust frame to image" A LOT just to make sure I am happy with the final result.

Good Idea! |
This would be a great time saver. |
Basically, this feature, the way I'm understanding it is that the image would be imported so as to be the right size without having it conform to the image frame that we've arbitrarily assigned to it with the mouse. The user could choose to make this a defaultbehavior in preferences of course. |
I don't understand what this seems to be requesting that doesn't already exist. Set Scale Image to Frame, either Proportional or not. Now go to XYZ and lock Width-Height. As you increase the Height, Width follows, and the Image continues to adjust to the size of the frame. |
Not for me. If I increase the height, the width of the frame increases also, along with the image's. There's no adjusting here |
I'm not understanding what the arbitrary desired behavior is. |
i don't understand it either. well, what i understand from this issue has little to do with the way the original poster is explaining it. somehow i have the feeling that he is describing what alt-drag does plus some crystall ball magics... i think that we need a few screenshots with explaining the use case. |
