Since no notes were added up to now, I want to tell my personal view:

- To see what font to choose, there already exists a "Font Preview" which one can call from the "Extras" menu
- Font names are better readable when displayed in the normal screen font.
- In professional layouts (what Scribus is made for) it's generally recommended not to use too much different fonts (the less the better). So, if you use three different fonts in a project, you probably know their names.
- If you want to change fonts, you will most likely change the font of a specific paragraph or character style, which will affect the whole project. Before you change that font, I think the existing Font Preview is sufficient to make a decision.

- Although, in some cases this feature could make sense... So if this feature once will be implemented, there should be the possibility to switch it on or off, so every user can make his own decision.

May be font preview should be integrated into Style manager, cause it's a point where you select fonts for entire project.

i mostly agree with dietmar83...

personally, i'd prefere to have a new palette which would list the fonts using their own preview (based on the font preview plugin?).

imo, the properties palette and the style manager are not the right place for it.

Well, I recall Quark again. It shows font preview if you scroll fonts with modifier key. So choice is yours - open new palette (or even other application) or take a glance. No opportunity - no choice. More palettes - less simplicity.

more features in one palette - less simplicity

this is a bit the unix philosophy, one tool, one task. well done.

(i guess it's easyer to find a palette than the right modifier to show the preview...)

Yeah, we need balance between simplicity for hands and simplicity for head. No sarcasm.
Anyway these one task tools shouldn't lock window focus on itself (like Manage images tool does for example), cause most users aren't one-handed cyclops.
