Summary0009365: The maximum ascent of the capital czech letters with punctuation (??ŽŠ?ÁÍÉ) behaves incorrectly
DescriptionThe position of the font when using czech capital letters (??ŽŠ?ÁÍÉ) with punctuation behaves incorrectly.

I am not expert in this, so I hope I am right.

Please see attached picture.
On the first row, there are two boxes containing font with First line offset ->maximum ascent.
On the second row, there are two boxes containing font with First line offset ->font ascent

Tooltip says: Set the height of the first line of the text frame to use the tallest height of the included characters

The question is whether the editor should take the punctuation into account.
In my oppinion it should not. My printer has the same oppinion:-).
Steps To Reproducecreate 4 text boxes:

1) enter "??ŽŠ?Å" - use properties->first-line offset->maximum ascent
2) enter "??ŽŠ?Å" - use properties->first-line offset->font ascent

3) enter "B" - use properties->first-line offset->maximum ascent
4) enter "B" - use properties->first-line offset->font ascent

when you compare 1) and 2), there is no difference
when you compare 3) and 4), there is visible difference

a) I see a very slight difference between 1 & 2
b) I haven't the font but it's highly possible that the accented character reaches the global font ascent, hence no or slight difference.

If the difference between options is unclear, it's another problem which should be adressed by means of tooltips or documentation.

CzechAdam, can you reproduce this on the latest stable Scribus or development version ? Please respond, thanks.

As Pierremarchad states it, It looks like the normal behaviour.
As of 1.5 version, the hints textes are very clear and understandable in the PP so as to describe each of these options.

I tested and discovered that there seems to be an issue, however, with "font ascent" (2nd option) since the vertical placement of the line depends of the text of the first line, when it should only rely on the global police characteristics.
Type "a" : there is a slight blanck space above.
Type "aA" : vertical positionning is the same, but there is no more blanck space above.
Type "aAÀ" or "aEÉ" : vertical positionning has changed, is slightly lower, so as to leave space for the ' on top of A or E.
This behaviour does not fit the hint text for "font ascent" : position of the line should leave space for the maximum ascent of the whole font, and thus it should not depend on the specific text.
