GEIL!

never noticed that one could select "selection"!

but free maker is right: it does not work reliably...

i guess that it should be enabled, when an item is selected on the canvas...

but, currently, you have to:
- first select an item
- create a guide on the canvas
to enable the "selection" choice.

I don't see a bug here.. the screenshot shows the canvas as active. If you were to click back on the Guides Manager window, the Selection option would be activated. I also do not have to create a guide first to activate this option, just create and select an item.

Error occurs sometimes. I can not verify the regularity of its occurrence. Most often immediately after a new document.
The screenshots object is active, and option selection is not available.

The sequence of actions is always the same. Error often occurs if you enable the Russian language.

Error is not fatal. For the user-designer is very inconvenient.
How to write a manual for Scribus similar sequence of actions:

1. Create a document
2. Create a rectangle
3. Open the Guide manager
4. Activate the Rectangle
5. Click the Misc
6. Click the Delete Guides from Current Page
7. Click the Collumn/Rows
8. Click the Back

Selection was activated

This should be repeated every time you open a document. It is not logical.

Unnecessary actions: 5, 6, 7, 8!

Still unable to reproduce, what date is your Scribus from? Are you running 1.4.0 rc1?

1.4.0 rc1
The Selection on the Guides Manager must be immediately activated as soon as the selected object (rectangle). Example:
1. Open the Guide manager
2. Activate the Rectangle

The Selection on the Guides Manager is active after the action:

1. Create a document
2. Create a rectangle
3. Open the Guide manager
4. Activate the Rectangle
5. Click the Misc on the Guides Manager
6. Click the Delete Guides from Current Page on the Misc
7. Click the Collumn/Rows on the Guides Manager
8. Click the Back

Why do things:
5. Click the Misc on the Guides Manager
6. Click the Delete Guides from Current Page on the Misc
7. Click the Collumn/Rows on the Guides Manager
8. Click the Back
