Summary0013557: Could you consider splitting-up PROPERTIES PANEL?
DescriptionCould you consider splitting-up PROPERTIES PANEL, or at least give users an option to do so? In my opinion from user's point of view it's very time consuming to find any option available form PROPERTIES PANEL (F2)... Every user uses different things on daily basis. I've been working in graphic industry for over 10 years so far - in my opinion at current state of development Scribus meet almost all requirements to became great DTP software at at InDesign or Quark level. However, without this step - splitting up this panel and letting users fully customize all panels the way they want - it's tedious job to make each step. Please :)

we are working towards a PP that is split in a content palette that automatically changes according to the item currently selected and a frame palette that stays as you left it.
if you want to contribute, there is work going on in this repository: https://github.com/nitramr/indigoDock

Thanks for the mockup, pablo_tool :)
The PP rewrite is much needed.

Hello!

I don't know any programming language. I'm just a graphic designer. This looks GREAT to me - much better than the way it is for right now! In my personal opinion in this project there should be a possibility to mouse-scroll upwards and downwards with greater number of those sub-menus selected (for example: Text (top), Text Styles (beneath), Colors (beneath), Pages (beneath). I feel that with several toolboxes selected this field could not be big enough. ALE, I LIKE YOUR PROJECT VERY MUCH! :) Is it ready to use? How to implement this extension?

My first idea in this matter was to simply split this PROPERTIES into separate toolboxes... Would it be very time-consuming to do so? Separate toolbox for text, separate toolbox for colors, separate toolbox for character/text style and so on... I've made simple mock-up what I mean (Scribus_user_interface.jpg) ...

Kind regards!

pablo, better to communicate in the issue queue on indigoDock if you're going to continue referring to it since it's a community driven project and not Scribus team endorsed.

just a few things:

- indigoDock is not my project (it's martin's project :-),
- it won't lead to usable software but to a prototype that shows how it could work
- you can contribute to it without coding skills, by participating in the discussion on how a new PP should work!
