Summary0013594: Text Boxes uneditable from the keyboard
DescriptionI am drafting a (currently) 7 page document in Scribus (based off of a document I created in InDesign last year ... I am completely recreating it from scratch, however).
I started using the scrapbook feature (not sure if this is related).
Now, certain text boxes are completely uneditable FROM THE KEYBOARD - whether I double-click and try and type, or open the Story Editor and try to type. I CAN, however, typically paste existing text into them.

They are:
- Not locked
- Not in another layer (only 1 layer)
- Not in a group

The worst problem is, every new text box I create is similarly uneditable.

I have:
- upgraded to Scribus 1.4.3 from the Scribus PPA repository
- closed and re-opened the document
- closed and re-opened Scribus
- rebooted the computer

Any ideas, I need to get this document out ASAP! Thanks for the (otherwise) great program, and thanks for the help!

Quick update - after banging my head over this all last night, and scouring all the help documents, forums, etc., and finally posting this issue ...
I think the issue was a conflict in my styles.

Apparently there was a conflict (I still haven't figured out exactly what) between my paragraph style (and the character style specified in it - which I had attempted to restore to unspecified, but had previously specified some things in) and the character style I was attempting to apply.

When I adjusted the paragraph style's character style to be based off of the character style I was trying to apply, the text became editable again.
Whenever I paste in a new piece from the Scrapbook, it 'loses' the style - and often text boxes are uneditable - until I apply the proper styles again.

Not sure if this is a quirk, or my limitations, or ...

Anyway, it works again. Thanks!

Interesting phenomena. Glad you figured it out. If you can recreate again, please let us know.
FYI, 1.4.5 is the most up to date stable version

I'm sorry - this is my first bug report, so I'm not exactly sure how everything works. I'd close it or whatever needs to be done, but I don't see a way to.
It does still seem to be a minor bug, but not a terribly important one.

SRDC, no worries. Thanks for the ticket and apologies on the 'deliver' comment, I thought this was another ticket. You did well with your report. I'm just checking with the developers to see what they advise on how to proceed.
