Summary0013690: Many menus are greyed out after adding new path/to/font in Prefrences > Fonts
DescriptionAfter adding path, Scribus dropdown menus have essential functionalities greyed out
Steps To Reproduce1) With no document open, open Prefrences > Fonts > Additional Paths
2) 'Add' a new path and press OK
3) Try to open a new document or access Prefernces again
Result: Dropdown menus are greyed out

Workaround: Command key + n to open a new SLA. Then immediately close it. Now Preferences and other menus will be available again.

after having added a path, you have to quit scribus and relaunch it...

since you are adding a path, you will probably want to use the fonts in that path... and the fonts are only scanned on scribus start...

or not?

If the user doesn't choose restart, don't grey out the scribus UI functionality.

Besides, I think Scribus should let the user know that a Scribus restart is need. "Yo Dawg, just noticed you added a new path. Ya gotta restart for that to officially happen. Peace"

There is no need to restart Scribus after adding a font directory.

I cannot reproduce this consistently, and I am not sure if you might be able to get other operations in Prefs to do the same, as I do not know why it might be related to fonts.
