Summary0003261: Changing text alignment from the properties palette does behave weird sometimes
Description1. If text is selected, and alignment is applied, only the last line has the new alignment.

2. If a frame is selected, the alignment does not change in the whole frame, but only in the first paragraph.

This doesn't happen all the time, but still very often.

Unable to duplicate. Got a sample doc?

No, and it wouldn't be useful at all, since, as I said, this happens sometimes, not always. Here's what I did when it happened th last time:

1. Create a new doc with automatic text frames

2. Insert sample text

3. Change alignment in properties from left to justified

4. VoilĂ : First paragraph justified, the rest remained left

In similar situations, the alignment of all but the last paragraph changed. It's as unpredictable as the behaviour I reported in 3164.

Dunno.. works here. though it wont work for text in subsequent linked frames except if they are selected, IIRC.

Actually, the issue reported affects text in one selected frame. But, as written before, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've tried with different fonts (most of them HQ fonts from Adobe and Bitstream) to eliminate font issues.

Another observation: On an almost regular basis, the last lines on a page are not justified if this is chosen in the PP. _But_ if I justify the text in the next connected frame too, the lines in the first one are aligned as expected. See screenshots.

Hi, new user here, looks like I run into this bug without fail (working on Scribus 1.3.2 on Win2K here). Issue is styles formatting in general (not solely alignment). Here's my process, screenshot and document "Example" attached:

- Make a new document (Double-sided, A5, 5 pages, automatic text frames, 2 columns).
- Create a new paragraph style & save it (Arial, 9 pt, tabs at 0.25")
- Insert sample text (standard ipsum lorem)
- Select frame & apply paragraph style (Properties > Text > Style > New Style).

Judging by your screen shots, this happens, because applying a property to a linked text frame seems to work not for all the the text in it, but only for for the included paragraphs. The last paragraph ends in the 2nd frame which is left aligned, so the beginning of the paragraph is left aligned, too. It seems, it's just the way it works now.

As for the rest, we have to find out, how to reproduce this behaviour and deliver some sample files.

dcollins: this happens, because you've applied the new style to the 1st frame, but the rest of the linked text frames have remained unchanged. Since you've chosen a smaller font size, there is more place in the 1st frame and the text from the second frame flows into the first. This has got nothing to do with this bug. Simply start applying the new style from the last linked frame or launch the Story editor and do it there.

mhanski: If the reason of this behaviour is paragraph based formatting, how can we explain the related bug 3164? If you look at the screen shots there, you'll see that the error occurs across paragraphs.

Hi Christoph, can you please test again and close if you cant reproduce any longer?

I get the same result as Christoph in 1.3.3.6: the last line of a linked frame gets the alignment of the next frame. Doesn't seem to be by paragraph. I think the issue is more general, though.

Look at wrong_alignment.sla. By deleting lines from the middle of the first frame, I got two alignments in one frame (didn't know you could do that :). But although the centering (according to the file) actually starts with the word "dictum", the line before it gets centered as well. That must be the underlying problem, which is triggered by justifying two linked frames differently.

I don't know about any of the other issues reported.

Tested: Linux Mint 18; r21504

Seems works well (0003261.gif), but if a font doesn't included EndParagraph glyph (for example: roboto.ttf), then doesn't works (only paragraph end row!). 0003261_2.gif
