Summary0008820: Zoom tool deselects Edit mode
DescriptionAs summary.
Steps To ReproduceEnter into Edit mode on a Text frame (that contains text).
You want to zoom in to edit this text.
You click on the Zoom tool. (so far, it’s the expected behavior from the user)
Then click on or select the Text zone you need to zoom in.
The Text frame is automatically deselected. (completely unexpected)
You can zoom in. (expected)

In order to be ablo to work on the zoomed-in area you will need to
a) Select Item Tool
b) Click on the Text Frame
c) Click on the Edit tool
d) Click on the Text Frame again

This is unexpected. And rather complicated.

The Zoom tool’s expected behavior is to zoom-in or zoom-out. Not to deselect an active frame.

This also falls into the "avoid too many clicks" meta-bug.

Related to this: once you select the Zoom Tool, the only way to get out of it — no, the Insert > Sticky Tools is not selected — is to
a) Reselect the Zoom Tool again so it deselects itselfs
B) Select just about any other tool but the Edit tool (and Rotate and a couple others)
Additional InformationThe "plus sign" attached to the Zoom tool is wrong when you press the CTRL key. It should be a "minus sign" — as it is most if not all apps using a zoom tool, when you need to zoom out you can see that you are going to zoom out.

I read that this is related to the Canvas and that it won’t be fixed. I understand it’s not a fundamental issue. But really, it’s misleading to see that "plus sign" no matter if you press the CTRL key or not.

But the actual "deselect" behavior is more disturbing than this icon issue, of course!
